An Ambassador for Christ

Identity in Christ · 5 min read

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech {you} by us: we pray {you} in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20

Introduction

As representatives of Christ on earth, we are called to reflect His character and share His message of reconciliation.

Reflection

When a person receives Christ, they not only receive a new personal identity; they also receive a mission. Paul describes believers as ambassadors, an image representing someone sent to represent the interests of a kingdom. An ambassador does not speak on their own behalf, but on behalf of the one who sent them. In the same way, our words, decisions, and actions should reflect the heart of Christ. Being ambassadors for Jesus does not mean having a perfect life, but allowing others to see God’s work within us. The world needs to hear the message of reconciliation with God, but it also needs to see it reflected in transformed lives. Our family, workplace, relationships, and surroundings are places where we can represent Christ through love, truth, and grace.

Practical application

Notice a situation today in which you can represent Christ through an attitude, a word, or an act of love.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You have given me the privilege of representing Christ in this world. Help me remember that my words and actions can show others who You are. Give me wisdom to speak with grace, humility to serve, and a heart willing to share the message of reconciliation I received through Jesus. May my life be a faithful reflection of Your love. Amen.

For reflection
Can the people around me recognize something of Christ through the way I live?
