The Christian life calls us to look beyond our own interests and reflect Christ’s love through service and consideration for others.
Jesus taught through His life that true purpose is not found in living centered only on ourselves, but in loving and serving according to God’s heart. Paul encouraged believers not to focus only on their own needs, but also on the well-being of those around them. This teaching does not mean neglecting our responsibilities, but recognizing that God created us to live in fellowship and become instruments of blessing to others. Selfishness can limit our ability to love, but when Christ transforms our hearts, we begin seeing people from a different perspective. Living with others in mind requires humility, generosity, and a willingness to reflect Jesus’ character in our daily actions. Every act of service, word of encouragement, and expression of love can become an expression of God’s purpose in our lives. When we stop living only for ourselves, we discover the joy of participating in the work God is doing in others.
Reflect today on the people God has placed around you and ask how you can show them Christ’s love in a practical way.
Beloved Father, thank You because Jesus showed us the perfect example of love and service. Help me leave selfishness behind and develop a heart willing to think of others. Teach me to see the needs of those around me and respond with compassion, generosity, and humility. Forgive me for the times I have been too focused on myself and failed to reflect Your love as I should. Form Christ’s character within me and use my life to bless others. May every action I take display Your grace and love. Amen.
