Jesus taught that entering into a relationship with God requires a profound spiritual transformation only He can produce.
When Nicodemus approached Jesus, he probably expected to receive deeper teaching about spiritual life. However, Jesus showed him a truth that completely changed the conversation: humanity’s problem was not only a lack of religious knowledge, but the need for new life. Being born again means that God must intervene in the deepest part of our being to restore our relationship with Him. It is not simply about changing habits, improving our behavior, or adopting a new philosophy of life. The gospel announces that God can perform a supernatural work where there was separation, bringing spiritual life where there was death. This truth reminds us that salvation is a work of grace and that our dependence on God is absolute. Whoever is born again receives a new identity, new desires, and new hope in Christ.
Read John 3:1-8 and meditate on the need for a transformation only God can accomplish.
Beloved Father, thank You because in Christ You gave me the opportunity to receive new life. I recognize that I could not completely transform myself through my own strength, but You did a work only You could do. Help me live as someone who has been born again, leaving behind what does not please You and walking in the new life I received by Your grace. Amen.
