The Father Who Seeks God

Father · 5 min read

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

Introduction

The father who seeks God first finds the direction and strength needed to guide his family according to His purposes.

Reflection

The foundation of a father who desires to positively influence his family begins with his own relationship with God. Jesus taught that we should seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, reminding us that our priorities must be aligned with Him. A father who seeks God recognizes that he needs more than his own abilities to face the responsibilities of the home. His example of faith, dependence, and obedience can become a powerful lesson to his children. Seeking God means devoting time to prayer, knowing His Word, and allowing Him to transform the heart. When a father places the Lord at the center of his life, his family can experience the fruit of direction founded on God’s wisdom and love.

Practical application

Reflect today on the priority God holds in your life as a father and consider what changes can help strengthen your relationship with Him.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because You are the source of all wisdom and strength. Help me seek You first and build my life on Your presence. May my relationship with You be the foundation from which I love, guide, and care for my family. Teach me to depend on You in every decision and show through my example the importance of walking by faith. May my home see in me a father who seeks to honor You and follow Your ways. Amen.

For reflection
Am I seeking God as the priority of my life, or am I trying to fulfill my role as a father only through my own strength?
