Awaiting the Fullness of the Kingdom

Kingdom of God · 5 min read

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become {the kingdoms} of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelation 11:15

Introduction

Believers wait with hope for the day when God’s Kingdom will be fully revealed and Christ will reign forever.

Reflection

God’s Kingdom is already present through the work of Christ, but the Bible also teaches that we await a future and complete manifestation of that Kingdom. Jesus came announcing the arrival of the Kingdom and showed its signs through His teachings, miracles, and work of restoration. Yet we still live in a world where sin and suffering are present, awaiting the day when God will make all things new. This future hope strengthens our faith and reminds us that present difficulties will not have the final word. Believers are not waiting for an uncertain future, but for the fulfillment of the promises of a faithful God who will establish His eternal rule. While we await the fullness of the Kingdom, we are called to live as citizens of that Kingdom, reflecting its values and proclaiming the hope of Christ. Our future hope should transform the way we live in the present, motivating us to remain firm and faithful.

Practical application

Reflect today on the promise of God’s eternal Kingdom and allow that hope to strengthen your faith in the midst of present circumstances.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your Kingdom remains forever and because in Christ we have the hope of seeing it fully established. Help me live with my eyes fixed on Your promises and not only on present difficulties. Teach me to represent Your Kingdom faithfully while I await the fulfillment of all Your promises. Strengthen my faith and allow my life to reflect hope, trust, and obedience to You. Amen.

For reflection
Am I living with the hope of God’s future Kingdom, or am I allowing present circumstances to define my perspective?
