Being united to Christ reminds us that our future does not depend on present circumstances, but on the eternal promise God has given us in Him.
Life can bring seasons when circumstances seem to contradict the hope we have. Difficulties, losses, and moments of uncertainty can make us forget what God has promised. Yet our hope is not built on what is happening today, but on our union with Christ. By belonging to Jesus, we receive a new position before God: we are His children and heirs together with Christ. This truth changes the way we face the present because we know that our current struggles do not have the final word. The first Christians endured persecution and suffering, but remained steadfast because their hope was placed in an eternal inheritance no one could take from them. When our identity is united to Christ, we can look ahead with confidence because our future is secure in Him.
Remember today an eternal promise you have in Christ and allow that truth to strengthen your hope in the midst of your present circumstances.
Beloved Father, thank You because in Christ You have given me a hope that extends beyond what I can see. When difficulties try to weaken my faith, help me remember that my true security is in my union with You. Teach me to live with my eyes fixed on Your promises and not only on my circumstances. May the eternal hope I have in Christ transform the way I live each day. Amen.
