Jesus showed us that true greatness is not found in doing our own will, but in living completely surrendered to God’s purpose.
From the beginning of His ministry to the cross, Jesus had one clear direction: to fulfill the Father’s will. He did not live seeking recognition, comfort, or His own interests, but perfectly obeying God’s plan. In the garden of Gethsemane, we see one of the deepest expressions of this surrender when, facing the suffering that was about to come, Jesus prayed, “not My will, but Yours, be done.” His obedience was not easy, but it revealed perfect love toward the Father and toward us. Many times, our spiritual struggle is born from wanting to follow God while maintaining control of our own decisions. Christ shows us a different path: a life in which God’s will occupies first place. When we learn from Jesus, we understand that surrendering our will does not mean losing our freedom, but finding the purpose for which we were created.
Identify an area where you struggle to surrender your will to God and present it to Him today with a heart willing to obey.
Beloved Father, thank You because Jesus showed me the path of a life completely surrendered to You. Help me leave behind my desire to control everything and teach me to trust Your plans. May my will not stand above Yours, but may I learn to obey You with love and trust. Form in me a heart like Christ’s, willing to fulfill Your purposes even when it requires sacrifice. Amen.
