The awareness of eternity reminds us that our lives have a purpose greater than the temporary things of this world.
God created human beings with a unique capacity to look beyond the present and long for what remains. Ecclesiastes teaches that God placed eternity in the human heart, showing that there is a deep desire for transcendence that material things can never fully satisfy. Many times, we try to find satisfaction in achievements, possessions, or temporary experiences, but our hearts were designed for an eternal relationship with God. The hope of eternal life changes our perspective and helps us live with different priorities. When we understand that our existence has an eternal purpose, our decisions stop being focused only on the immediate and begin aligning with God’s will. Jesus taught that we should seek first God’s kingdom and live with our eyes fixed on what remains. Eternity should not pull us away from our present responsibilities, but motivate us to live each day with greater purpose, love, and faithfulness.
Reflect today on what occupies the greatest place in your heart and ask whether your priorities are aligned with eternity.
Beloved Father, thank You because my life has a purpose that transcends what is temporary. Thank You because You placed in my heart the desire to know You and live for something greater than this world. Help me not become lost in passing concerns and keep my eyes fixed on Your eternal promises. Transform my priorities so my decisions reflect Your will and not only my desires. May I live each day with the hope and perspective of someone who belongs to eternity with You. Amen.
