God Makes the Fruit Grow

Spiritual fruit is the result of God’s work within us; our responsibility is to remain faithful, but He is the One who produces growth.

Reflection

At times, we can fall into the temptation of thinking that our spiritual transformation depends entirely on our effort. We strive to change, improve, and produce results, but the Bible reminds us that true growth comes from God. Paul explained that different people may participate in the work, but it is God who gives the growth. This fills us with humility because it acknowledges that every spiritual advance is a work of grace. At the same time, it encourages us because it means we do not depend only on our abilities. God works within us through His Holy Spirit, His Word, and the circumstances He uses to form our character. Our responsibility is to remain available, cultivate our relationship with Him, and obey His direction, trusting that He will complete the work He began.

Practical application

Surrender to God an area in which you desire to grow and trust that He is working even if you do not yet see all the results.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because my spiritual growth does not depend only on my strength, but on Your work within me. Help me be faithful in seeking You, obeying You, and remaining close to You, but also teach me to rest in Your transforming power. Remove the pride that makes me think everything depends on me and strengthen my confidence that You are forming Christ in my life. Amen.
