The Just for the Unjust
Christ took our place while being perfect, reconciling us to God when we could not do so through our own means.
Reflection
One of the most astonishing truths of the gospel is that the innocent One chose to carry the guilt of the guilty. Jesus did not suffer for His own mistakes because He lived a perfect and sinless life. Yet He willingly took our place to bear what separated us from God. The cross was not merely an example of love; it was the act through which Christ opened the path of reconciliation between God and us. The Just suffered for the unjust to bring us to the Father. This truth reveals both the seriousness of our sin and the depth of God’s love. We were not brought near to God because we managed to become good enough, but because Christ did for us what we could never have done. When we understand this grace, our response cannot be indifference, but a life marked by gratitude, humility, and worship.
Practical application
Meditate today on the fact that Christ took your place and thank God for the path of reconciliation He opened.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because Christ, being perfect, gave His life for me. I recognize that I could not draw near to You through my own merit, but Jesus took my place and brought me back into Your presence. Help me live with a grateful heart, always remembering the price of my salvation. May the cross produce humility, love, and a deep desire to live for You within me. Amen.
