A Child of God in Christ
In Christ we receive a new identity: we are no longer only God’s creatures, but children adopted by His grace and called to live close to Him.
Reflection
One of the deepest changes that occurs when we come to know Christ is the way we understand our identity. Many people spend their lives seeking acceptance, trying to prove their worth, or attempting to fill the emptiness of not feeling sufficient. But the gospel reveals a different truth: through Christ we are received as children of God. This identity is not earned through personal achievements and does not depend on our perfection; it is a gift of divine grace. A child does not live desperately trying to earn a place in the family; a child lives from the security of knowing they belong. In the same way, God invites us to draw near to Him with confidence, not from fear, but from the relationship Christ made possible. Being children of God changes the way we face life because we know we have a Father who loves us, guides us, and cares for us.
Practical application
Meditate today on what it means to be a child of God and give thanks for the relationship Christ made possible for you.
Prayer
Beloved Father, thank You because through Christ You have received me as Your child. Help me live from this new identity and not from insecurity, guilt, or the need for approval. Remind me that I belong to You and that Your love does not depend on my merit. Teach me to draw near to You with confidence and to reflect in my life the security of someone who has a heavenly Father who loves them. Amen.
