Transformation

Transformed into the Image of Christ

5 min read
2 Corinthians 3:18

God’s purpose is to form the character of Christ within us through an ongoing transformation carried out by His Spirit.

Reflection

The goal of the Christian life is not simply to improve certain aspects of our behavior, but to be transformed so that we become increasingly like Jesus. Paul explains that this transformation takes place as we behold the glory of the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to work within us. At times, we want to change only visible actions, but God works from the depths: He changes our motivations, thoughts, and the way we respond to life. This process may be slow and requires perseverance, but each stage forms something within us that increasingly resembles Christ’s character. God is not seeking to produce an improved version of ourselves, but to reflect the life of His Son through our existence. True transformation occurs when we remain close to Jesus and allow His presence to shape our hearts.

Practical application

Find a moment today to behold Christ through His Word and ask God to form His character within you.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your purpose for me is to transform me into the image of Christ. I recognize that there are still areas of my life that need to change, but I trust that Your Spirit continues working within me. Help me remain close to Jesus, behold His character, and allow His love, humility, and obedience to be formed in my heart. Amen.

To reflect on

Am I seeking only to change my behavior, or am I allowing God to transform my heart so I become like Christ?
