The gift of interpretation of tongues is an ability given by the Holy Spirit to communicate the meaning of a spiritual message and build up the church.
The Bible teaches that spiritual gifts are intended to strengthen and build up God’s people. The gift of interpretation of tongues is related to the gift of tongues and allows a message expressed through that gift to be understood by the congregation. Paul taught that everything should be done in an orderly way and with the goal of building others up, showing that spiritual manifestations must be guided by love and wisdom. This gift does not seek to exalt a person, but to enable the church to receive encouragement, teaching, and direction according to God’s will. Like every gift of the Holy Spirit, it should be exercised with humility, dependence on God, and a heart focused on glorifying Christ.
Reflect today on the importance of using spiritual gifts in love and consider whether everything you do seeks to build up and bless others.
Beloved Father, thank You because Your Holy Spirit works among Your people in different ways according to Your will. Help me value Your gifts humbly and always use them to build others up. Teach me to seek order, love, and wisdom in everything I do. Remove every desire for personal recognition from me and allow every ability You have given me to point toward Christ and glorify Your name. Amen.
