The Call to Reconciliation

Calling · 5 min read

And all things {are} of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2 Corinthians 5:18

Introduction

God calls us to become instruments of reconciliation, bringing His love and restoration to our relationships and the world.

Reflection

Reconciliation is an essential part of Christ’s message. The Bible teaches that God reconciled us to Himself through Jesus and also gave us the ministry of bringing that reconciliation to others. This means followers of Christ are called to build bridges, seek peace, and reflect the grace they have received. Reconciliation does not always mean every wound disappears immediately, but it does involve allowing God to transform our hearts and guide us toward forgiveness and restoration. In our families, churches, and daily relationships, we can become instruments of peace when we respond with humility, love, and mercy. The call to reconciliation reminds us that our lives should display the same restoring love God showed us through Christ.

Practical application

Reflect today on the relationships where God is calling you to promote reconciliation and consider how you can become an instrument of peace.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because through Christ You reconciled me to Yourself and showed me the power of Your grace. Help me carry that same grace into my relationships with others. Give me a heart willing to forgive, seek peace, and restore what can be healed. Remove pride, hardness, and everything that prevents reconciliation from me. Allow my life to reflect Your love and make me an instrument of peace wherever I go. Amen.

For reflection
Am I becoming an instrument of reconciliation and peace, or am I allowing pride and wounds to maintain distance from others?
