Do Not Feed Temptation

Lust · 5 min read

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil {men}. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
Proverbs 4:14-15

Introduction

Spiritual wisdom teaches us not to feed temptation, but to turn away from what may lead us into sin.

Reflection

Temptation grows stronger when we give it space, attention, and time in our minds and hearts. The Bible calls us to act wisely and not draw unnecessarily near to paths that may lead us away from God. Many falls do not happen suddenly, but through small decisions in which we allow temptation to grow. Therefore, purity requires establishing boundaries and making advance decisions that protect our spiritual lives. God not only calls us to resist sin when it appears, but also to avoid what may weaken us. True freedom consists of recognizing our limits and depending on the Lord’s direction. When we seek to please God, we learn to replace what feeds wrong desires with habits that strengthen our relationship with Him.

Practical application

Examine what you are allowing into your life that may be feeding temptation and make a wise decision before God today.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your wisdom guides and protects me. Help me recognize what may weaken my spiritual life and give me courage to turn away from temptation. Forgive me for the times I have played with what I should have avoided. Strengthen my self-control and teach me to fill my heart with things that please You. May my decisions reflect my desire to honor You and live in purity. Amen.

For reflection
Am I making decisions to avoid temptation, or am I allowing spaces in which it can grow in my life?
