Hope › Devotionals › Death with Christ
Union with Christ represents the end of our former way of living and the beginning of a new life guided by God.
The Bible uses the image of baptism to explain a profound spiritual truth: when we are united with Christ, our old life is left behind and we receive a new opportunity to walk according to God’s purpose. Paul teaches that we were buried with Christ into death, but also called to share in new life through His resurrection. This means the believer is no longer defined only by the past, mistakes, or former ways of living, but by the transforming work Jesus accomplished. The Christian life is not only about abandoning what separated us from God, but about learning to walk each day in the new identity we have received. Just as Christ conquered death and rose again, we are called to live a renewed life marked by hope, obedience, and fellowship with God. This transformation is an ongoing process in which the Lord shapes our character and teaches us to reflect Christ more clearly.
Reflect today on the new life God has given you and ask how you can live more fully according to your identity in Christ.
Beloved Father, thank You because in Christ You have given me new life and new hope. Thank You because my past no longer has the final word and because Your grace allows me to walk in a new direction. Help me remember each day who I am in Christ and live according to the identity You have given me. Transform my thoughts, strengthen my faith, and teach me to leave behind everything that hinders my spiritual growth. May my life reflect the work You have done within me, and may every decision honor Your name. Amen.
