Crucified with Christ

Death with Christ · 5 min read

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20

Introduction

Union with Christ transforms our identity and calls us to live a life surrendered to God, with Christ at the center of our hearts.

Reflection

Paul’s declaration in Galatians expresses one of the deepest truths of the Christian life: following Jesus involves complete transformation of our identity. When he says he was crucified with Christ, he does not mean he lost his value or personality, but that he left behind a self-centered life in order to live under Christ’s direction. The cross represents the place where our former way of living loses authority and a new relationship with God begins. This truth reminds us that Christian faith is not only about receiving forgiveness, but also allowing Jesus to transform the way we think, decide, and act. Each day, we are called to surrender our will to the Lord and allow His character to be formed within us. When Christ lives in us, our priorities change, and our lives begin to reflect His love, humility, and obedience more clearly.

Practical application

Reflect today on the areas in which you still need to surrender control to God and allow Christ to be the center of your life.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because through Christ You have given me a new identity and a new opportunity to live. Help me leave behind everything that draws me away from Your purpose and teach me to surrender every area of my life before You. Form the character of Jesus within me, transform my thoughts, and guide my decisions. May my life not be ruled only by my desires, but by Your perfect will. Allow Christ to be visible in my words, actions, and relationships, and help me grow closer to You each day. Amen.

For reflection
Am I allowing Christ to govern my life, or am I still trying to direct it according to my own ways?
