God desires a heart willing to hear His voice and respond obediently to His direction.
One of humanity’s greatest spiritual difficulties is learning to listen to God with a willing heart. The Bible shows that the problem is not always the absence of God’s voice, but the hardness of a heart unwilling to respond. A sensitive heart recognizes God’s authority, receives His correction, and remains open to His teaching. This sensitivity develops through a constant relationship with Him, through His Word, prayer, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Many times, God speaks to encourage, correct, or show us a better path, but we need to cultivate an attitude of humility to receive His direction. A sensitive heart does not mean a life without mistakes, but a continual willingness to return to God when He shows us something that needs to change.
Spend a few quiet minutes today and ask God to make your heart more sensitive to His voice.
Beloved Father, help me have a heart willing to hear You. Forgive me for the times I have ignored Your direction or allowed my own desires to be stronger than Your voice. Remove all hardness from my heart and teach me to respond with humility and obedience. May I recognize Your guidance each day and walk according to Your ways. Amen.
