The Christian life was not designed to be lived depending only on our own strength, but on the power God provides.
One of the greatest spiritual struggles is accepting that we need to depend completely on God. Our nature pushes us to want to be self-sufficient, prove that we can solve everything, and maintain control of every situation. But the gospel teaches us a different truth: our true strength is born when we recognize our need for God. Paul, despite his knowledge, experience, and calling, understood that his ability did not come from himself, but from God’s power working in him. Depending on God does not mean we stop making an effort or abandon our responsibilities; it means recognizing that everything we are and do finds its source in Him. When we walk under His power, we can face challenges that would exceed our abilities because we do not depend only on our own strength. God does not seek perfect people, but willing hearts that allow Him to work through them.
Identify an area where you have been trying to do everything in your own strength and surrender it today to God’s power.
Lord, I acknowledge that many times I try to depend on myself before depending on You. Forgive me for the times I have trusted my abilities more than Your power. Teach me to walk in daily dependence on Your grace and remember that my true strength comes from You. Use my life, talents, and efforts for Your purposes, but help me never forget that You are the One who sustains and equips every step I take. Amen.
