His Power Is Made Perfect in Weakness

Brokenness · 5 min read

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9

Introduction

Human weakness can become an opportunity to experience God’s grace and discover that our true strength comes from Him.

Reflection

The Bible teaches a truth that often contradicts our natural way of thinking: God does not always remove our weaknesses, but often reveals His power precisely through them. Paul asked the Lord to remove what afflicted him, but received a different answer: God’s grace was sufficient, and His power was made perfect in weakness. This teaching reminds us that our limitations do not prevent God from working in our lives. We often try to prove that we are strong, capable, and self-sufficient, but the Lord invites us to acknowledge our need for Him. When we stop relying only on our own abilities, we discover deeper dependence on His grace. Weakness surrendered to God can become a place where our faith grows, our character is formed, and His power becomes evident. The goal is not to glorify our difficulties, but to recognize that God can use them to draw us closer and teach us to rest in His faithfulness.

Practical application

Reflect today on the areas in which you feel limited or weak and allow God to show you how His grace can sustain and strengthen you.

Prayer

Beloved Father, thank You because Your grace is sufficient for me and because Your power is revealed even in my weakness. Help me stop depending only on my own strength and teach me to trust You completely. When I feel unable, remind me that You are still working and that my value does not depend on perfection, but on Your love. Strengthen my faith, turn my weaknesses into opportunities to draw closer to You, and allow my life to reflect Your power and faithfulness. May I recognize in every circumstance that my true strength comes from Christ. Amen.

For reflection
Am I trying to hide my weaknesses, or am I allowing God to display His power through them?
