Hope › Devotionals › Brokenness
God can use the difficult processes of our lives to form our character and produce spiritual fruit that reflects His work within us.
Seasons of brokenness can be difficult to understand, especially when we face situations that seem meaningless. Yet the Bible teaches that God can use even the hardest seasons to do a deep work within us. Paul explains that tribulation produces perseverance, perseverance produces proven character, and character produces hope. This shows us that God wastes no process when our lives are in His hands. Difficulties can reveal areas that need transformation, strengthen our dependence on the Lord, and teach us to trust Him more deeply. Brokenness is not the end of the road, but a process through which God shapes our character and prepares us to reflect His love more clearly. Just as formation requires time and patience, spiritual growth also requires remaining close to God and allowing Him to work within us. When we trust Him through trials, we discover that the hope He produces is stronger than every circumstance.
Reflect today on the difficult processes you have experienced and seek to recognize how God may be forming your character and strengthening your faith through them.
Beloved Father, thank You because even in difficult processes You continue working in my life. Thank You because no trial is outside Your purpose and because You can use every experience to draw me closer to You. Help me be patient when I do not understand what You are doing and strengthen my faith when I walk through difficulty. Form within me a character more like Christ’s, teach me to trust Your timing, and allow every process to produce spiritual fruit in my life. May my hope always remain in You, and may my walk reflect Your faithfulness. Amen.
