God does not always deliver us from difficulties immediately, but He always offers a safe place in the midst of them: His own presence.
Life can bring moments when everything that once gave us security begins to change. Unexpected problems, losses, worries, and situations beyond our control can make us feel vulnerable. In those moments, we look for human refuges: solutions, resources, or people who can sustain us. Although God may use those means to help us, the Bible reminds us that our primary refuge is found in Him. A refuge does not necessarily remove the storm, but it allows us to remain safe while we pass through it. David experienced persecution, rejection, and danger, yet he learned that his true security was not in his circumstances, but in the presence of the Lord. When God is our refuge, we can face difficult times with a different kind of peace because we know our lives are held by the One who never changes.
Identify a worry you have been carrying and surrender it to God today, remembering that He is your refuge.
Beloved Father, thank You because in You I find a safe place when my heart is filled with fear or uncertainty. Help me stop looking for security only in my own strength, and teach me to run first to Your presence. When circumstances change and I do not have all the answers, remind me that You remain steadfast. Be my refuge, my strength, and my help in every moment of my life. Amen.
