Hope › Devotionals › Death to sin
In Christ we have received freedom to surrender our lives to God and walk according to the new identity He has given us.
God’s grace not only offers us forgiveness, but also invites us to live differently. Paul teaches believers that they should no longer present their lives to sin, but surrender themselves completely to God as instruments of righteousness. This teaching reminds us that spiritual freedom involves a daily decision to allow the Lord to govern our actions, thoughts, and desires. Although we still face struggles, Christ has given us a new position and a new purpose. We are no longer called to return to the former paths that separated us from God, but to walk in the freedom He offers. Sanctification is a process in which we learn to surrender every area of our lives to the Lord and allow His Spirit to transform our character. Every decision of obedience strengthens our relationship with God and helps us live according to the new life we have received in Christ.
Reflect today on the areas of your life that still need to be surrendered completely to God so you can experience greater transformation.
Beloved Father, thank You because in Christ You have given me freedom and a new opportunity to live according to Your will. Help me not return to what drew me away from You, but remember the new life You have given me. Strengthen my heart when I face temptation and teach me to depend on Your power. Renew my thoughts, guide my decisions, and allow every area of my life to be used to honor You. May my walk reflect the transformation Your grace produces within me. Amen.
